Contenu
Not only are Chaucer's fabliaux some of the most entertaining and humorous tales in English but they also form a critique of social and literary conventions. The tales to be studied are those of the Miller, the Reeve, the Cook (though incomplete), the Merchant, and the Shipman. In addition, we will read two other comic tales, not strictly of the fabliau genre, 'The Friar's Tale' and 'The Summoner's Tale'.
