Objectif

This seminar examines a variety of primary literary and visual texts as well as the debate on race, class and gender issues in the post-Civil Rights U.S.A. - with a flashback on the post Civil War development leading up to the Civil Rights Movement. The course provides both a survey and in-depth assessment of how and why racial and gender dynamics influence the cultural production as well as the social and political relations in the US-American context at large.
