Contenu
By studying a selection from The Canterbury Tales we will investigate how Chaucer engages with questions of gendered roles, sexual identity, social interaction and relationships. We will also consider how modern-day gender politics impacts upon our readings of Chaucer and explore some approaches in gender theory available to us and assess their usefulness in extending our analyses of medieval literature and its contexts. The selection of tales will include the 'The General Prologue', 'The Knight's Tale', 'The Miller's Tale' and the 'Wife of Bath's Prologue and Tale'.
