Contenu

This course will examine Henry David Thoreau's Walden; or Life in the Woods, one of the key texts in the American literary canon. Through our close reading of the text, we will consider Thoreau's reflections on nature and culture, as well as addressing the text's enduring legacy in a contemporary environmental context.

Evaluation

To receive credits for this class, students are expected to attend regularly, actively participate in class discussions, give an in-class presentation of roughly 10 minutes, and to submit an essay of 6-10 pages in length. Students electing to take this class in the 'enseignements complémentaires' module, or Erasmus students, must submit an essay of 8-12 pages in length.
