Contenu
This course will look at ways in which key passages from the Christian Bible (Old and New Testaments) have been reinterpreted in a range of modern English literature, poetry and prose, from the sixteenth to the twenty-first centuries, and will suggest ways in which the Bible has formed our ways of reading and interpreting literature in the West. No previous knowledge of the Bible is required to follow the course.
Evaluation
The class will be assessed by a final essay of 2500 words, normally based on a topic covered in class.
Extended Essay option: for an additional two credits, you may write a further essay (2000 words), going beyond what was covered in class and showing evidence of your own research.
