Objective

The tutorial aims at reviewing current topics in quantitative and computational biology. In addition, this tutorial aims to teach two critical skills for research: effective scientific writing, and experience with the process of publishing and peer reviewing.

Content

This course invites guest lecturers to review four current research topics in computational biology. Each student will write one review (alone or in a group), and write one peer-review on a colleague's written work.

Programme requirements

This course requires substantial work outside of the classroom, as the students must coordinate within their groups, read up to 10 research papers (which may not be their exact field of study), and write at least part of a review paper. Addtionally, they must read their peers' work and submit a peer review. Estimated hours outside of class = 30

Grant requirements

The course will be assessed on the basis of active participation.
