Sensibilize to plurality of methods and theories related to Anthropology of Health.

Content

Articulate the local and global by plurality of health knowledge and practices. In the South hemisphere as well as in the Western world, the evolution of mentalities induces a locally and globally modified perception of health and illness. In this way, the health quest, in its plural preventive and curative expressions, constitutes a field in full mutation. By looking into illness and its representations and by dealing with the individual and public health quest as a societal and cultural phenomenon, this course first aims to explore the plurality of conceptions and practices taking place in the health care, medicical and therapeutics field, in order to then put in perspective body and health ambivalences, generated by plurality of its social and cultural contents: a plurality of "saying" and "doing" in regard to the body. Thus, health and illness conjugate in a plural form, causing the logics that define them to shatter into a mosaic of multiple expressions, reflection of a proteiform reality.
