The experimental psychology lab class will provide hands-on research experience with different topic introduced previously in classes on bachelor level. Students will acquire technical skills to actually carry out research projects in "experimental psychology" and "psychiatric neurosciences". This will include experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis. Students will be required to hand in a written research report and present their work according to the style quidelines of a scientific conference. Depending on the nature of the project students will work in small groups or alone. They can choose among different ongoing projects proposed by the professors. The projects carried out by students are usually tied into a bigger research project funded by the SNSF or some other grant agency. During the first few session we will provide and overview and scientific background information. Special workshops will follow such as the presentation of new technologies in cognitive neuroscience or how to write up a scientific paper.
