Objective

The goal of this course is to present the main theories and some specific and important domains in the fields of counseling and career guidance psychology.

Content

This course will present different theories and some specific important domains in the fields of counseling and career guidance psychology. More precisely, Holland's theory of vocational personalities in work environment (Holland 1964, 1973), the work adjustment theory (Dawis & Lofquist, 1984), the developmental and life-span theories (Super, 1972, 1990), the cognitive-developmental theories (Gottfredson, 1981, 1996), the cognitive theories (Gati & Asher, 2001), the socio cognitive career theories (Lent, Brown, & Hackett, 1944), and constructivist theories (Guichard, 2001, 2004) will be presented. Implications for practice will also be discussed.
