INTRODUCTION

CHAPTER 1 Definitions and theories/models about pain

This first section of the lecture presents different possibiiotes of defining pain, components, and aspects qhich alolow differentiating accute and/or chronic pain, and the necessity of recognizing different other types of pain.
Its objectives are to develop how present theories are built on past historical developments (scientific, technological developments, representations, etc).

CHAPITRE 2 Evaluation of pain: importance of developmental and contextual aspects

The second part of the lecture presents how pain can or should be evaluated: dimensions, context, age of the person who is evaluated.
1. Instruments of evaluation are presented
2. Pain behaviors, pain expression or non expression
3. Interviews
The importance of evaluation is discussed in the context of patients'support and research.
