The aim of the course-seminary "Political Science: Concepts and Theories A" is to introduce students to modern positive and normative political theory. The second part "Political Science: Concepts and Theories B" focuses on concepts and theories stemming from constructivism and critical theory.
The aim of the seminary is to enable a critical understanding of theories and notions such as behavioralism, structure-functionalism, system theory, normative approaches, rational choice and neo-institutionalism.
In terms of the organization, each lecture will be followed by a semary during which a text will be presented and discussed to illustrate the theory presented during the lecture. Attention will be paid as well to the application of a particular theory by the means of key concepts such as power and the State.
Professor D. Braun is responsable for the first part of the course while Professor M. Djaziri is in charge of the second part.
The course-seminary will be credited with 6 ECTS credits. 3 ECTS credits are conditional on passing the final exam composed of questions concerning the course part. Another 3 ECTS credits will be attributed for the seminary participation, including a critical written report on one of the seminary sessions.
