Objective
This course - which requires no prior knowledge - seeks to provide an understanding of the main statistical concepts and methods that students are likely to face when studying or practicing their profession.
Content
The course will cover the following topics:
- Elements of descriptive statistics (description and representation of data, missing data and outliers, ...)
- Elements of probabilities (random variable, discrete and continuous distributions, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, ...)
- Main methods of inferential statistics (estimation, parametric and nonparametric hypothesis tests, correlation, linear regression, ...).
Students will learn how to use the statistical software JAMOVI.
Evaluation
The evaluation of the course consists of a final 2-hours written exam dealing with the subjects covered during the course and the practical work. The exam will be done without documentation provided by the student but a 3 pages form and statistical tables will be attached to the examination copy.
