Objective

Content
This course will present different theories and some specific important domains in the fields of vocational psychology. More precisely, Holland's theory of vocational personalities in work environment (Holland 1964, 1973), the work adjustment theory (Dawis & Lofquist, 1984), the developmental and life-span theories (Super, 1972, 1990), the cognitive-developmental theories (Gottfredson, 1981, 1996), the cognitive theories (Gati & Asher, 2001), the socio cognitive career theories (Lent, Brown, & Hackett, 1944), and constructivist theories (Guichard, 2001, 2004) will be presented. These theories are analyzed especially from the point of view of the impact of different social factors such as origin or gender in order to make students aware of a vocational guidance for all that helps to fight against social inequalities and stereotypes affecting career choices. Implications for practice will be discussed and a compulsory reading supplementing the concepts taught in class will be proposed.
This course is aimed at knowledge-type learning where students have to master the different theories of vocational psychology to apply them later in practice.
