Objective
In relation to this theme of comparative political sociology, there are a number of objectives:
1) reinforcement of transversal skills:
- analytical reading of theoretical and methodological studies
- oral expression
- writing skills
- comparative approach
2) acquisition of basic skills in qualitative methodology:
- capacity to understand different means of data collection through observation, interviews and document analysis
- capacity to prepare and carry out data analysis through observation, interviews, and document analysis
- analysis of the data collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis
Content
This seminar's goal is to familiarize students with empirical research on a theme in comparative political sociology: otherness and its relation to politics.
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated on a number of aspects of their work:
I - The discussion of texts will be evaluated individually on the basis of:
1) Active participation during the sessions
2) Text summaries to be posted on Moodle
II- The investigative project is developed as we go along. It is comprised of research stages which will be integrated in the final report.
