Objective

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to psychophysiological research, i.e., the use of physiological measures in the pursuit of psychological questions. After completing the course, students will have a working knowledge of the most frequently used psychophysiological measures and be able to critically evaluate their advantages and disadvantages.

Content

Physiological measures that are used in psychophysiological research such as electrodermal and cardiovascular activity will be covered in terms of relevant anatomy and physiology, measurement technique and methodological issues, and applications.
The students will be assigned the task of reading, critically analyzing, and discussing scientific articles in the field of psychophysiology.
