Objective

The aim of the tutorial is to sensitize participants to the major hurdles encountered when translating a basic idea into the clinic. Exemplified by cancer therapies, this course specifically covers:
- basic aspects of cancer biology.
- treatment opportunities based on these aspects
- the feasibility of their application in cancer patients.

Content

The tutorial will be organized in weekly sessions. During the first session basic concepts of cancer biology will be presented. At the end of this session, students will select one article among provided publications and present it during the following sessions (20 min presentation + 20 min discussion). Alternatively, students can also present an aspect of cancer biology and treatment of their special interest that is not covered by one of the provided articles.
