Degree : | Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geosciences and Environment |
Programme requirements : | Program of studies of 180 credits ECTS in 2 periods : 1. Probationary period (1st year) : 60 ECTS split in modules. The probationary period is satisfactorily completed if the weighted average by the ECTS credit values is at least 4.0/6.0 for each module. 2. The second period (2d-3rd year) : 120 ECTS split in modules. The second period is satisfactorily completed if the weighted average by the ECTS credit values is at least 4.0/6.0 for each module. Learning outcomes At the end of the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Geosciences, Geology orientation, students are able to: 1. describe the main issues of geology, geography and environmental sciences using the basic concepts of these disciplines and related disciplines; 2. analyze and develop research in one of the three disciplines and fields (geology, geography or environmental sciences); 3. describe, apply and evaluate theories and concepts in one of the three disciplines and fields (geology, geography or environmental sciences); 4. apply basic science concepts (natural and / or human / social) relevant to the various disciplines and fields of geosciences and the environment; 5. apply geoscience methods (cartography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, statistics) to geo-environmental issues; 6. identify and utilise software and resources (documents, articles, databases) for geoscience and environmental analyses; 7. critically analyse and synthesize scientific literature in French and English in one of the three disciplines or fields (geology, geography or environmental sciences); 8. present and communicate - in writing or orally and using diagrams and maps - an environmental, geographic or geological problem; 9. identify (in the field) geological problems and describe them using the language and concepts of earth sciences; 10. apply the concepts and theories of basic natural sciences to geological issues; 11. integrate basic knowledge into concrete and real situations in the field and in practical courses; 12. choose a method of analysis and apply it to interpret a geological problem. |
